Messengers
This installation of wall sculptures is an ongoing work that forms an expanding system of symbols. Each symbol compresses meaning and gives presence to facets of our existence that civilizations have contemplated for centuries.
Symbolic systems capture layers of meaning through marks, glyphs and narrative. These works instead provide material symbols rendered by hand. I reference the I Ching to guide this exploration, reaching for a felt sense of what each symbol holds. I enlist a range of materials and processes to interpret them, guided by instinct and the curiosity to expand my own practice.
Each new work arrives informed by those that came before and seeding those that will come next.
